Collections
I collect several things as souvenirs of our travels. One collection is my souvenir magnets. See how I display it here. I have magnets from Alaska and Hawaii to the U.K.
Another thing I collect is Disney Pins.

My Disney Pin Collection
We are huge Disney fans, especially the Disney Cruise Line. I have been collecting them from Disney Parks, Disney Cruise Line, and Disney Vacation Club for many years. My collection has around 50 pins – my husband, son, and daughter have much larger collections.
Our daughter likes to pin trade with other collectors and Disney cast members. She has a large display book similar to this one at Amazon.
How I Display My Collection
I wanted a way to display my pins as artwork. Like my magnet collection, I did a lot of research to find what other people were using as a display. I found a lot of really cool ideas!
Finally, I decided to make up my own design. Before this project, I had made a Disney Cruise Fish Extender (I’ll explain that in another post-:-)). I made it from burlap and had some material left over. I got a small dowel and two wood caps at Hobby Lobby.
I stained the wood and created a pocket in the material for the dowel. All sewing was done by hand using a burgundy thread as an accent. I stitched down each side so it would not ravel. Then I pulled threads at the bottom of the fabric to create fringe. Mod Podge was used to secure the fringe. Then I used twine to create a hanger. Pretty shabby chic but it works for me 🙂
