Billy Graham explained that happiness depends on circumstances and joy depends on God. It’s not wrong to seek happiness, of course; happiness is one of God’s gifts. The writer of Ecclesiastes declared, “I know there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live” (Ecclesiastes 3:12).

God gives us joy, but how can we be happy?
Don’t Worry Be Happy
It’s too bad things are not as easy as this 1988 song by Bobby McFerrin.
Happiness takes working with your circumstances and taking care of yourself. #Happiness Share on XTake steps to happiness
- Remove negatives in your life. This includes bad habits, bad people, and bad thoughts. Have a positive attitude and remind yourself that you are worthy, beautiful and happy with where you are.
- Surround yourself with like-minded people. You need people who love you, just as you are. They will support your effort to make things better. Your happiness will rub off on them also!
- Look for the good in other people and if someone makes a mistake, be understanding to them.
- Forgive yourself. You are not perfect and it is OK. Cut yourself some slack and move on.
- Don’t judge others. Remember, we all are imperfect humans. You can’t know all the facts about others or their situation.
- Be kind to others. You can make someone’s day just by being nice to them. It will make you feel better also. You may never know the good that can come from you being nice and not critical of other people.

I love everything about this post, Janet! I believe wholeheartedly in this Scripture you posted: “Acts 20:35 “There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.” Isn’t it amazing how our hearts and minds radically change when we’ve done good to/for someone else? Our day could be absolutely terrible, but one act of kindness, could turn it all around. People must begin to become more aware of how powerful their words and deeds truly are – for better or for worse.
Don’t compare yourself to others is another big one. I believe our enemy uses that one to stall us with fear. If we feel lesser than all the time in any way – it tends to make us shrink back and not move forward. We stay stuck. If we stay stuck, we never fulfill the purpose and call on *our* lives. It’s a sneaky, yet effective tool in his arsenal.
Thank you for writing this, Janet. I’ll be sharing it on social media now! All my very best to you, dear sis. God bless!
