A Clean House
We all want a clean house, but it is so much work! I used to be so good at keeping things tidy and clean, including making my beds every morning. The older I get, the less this happens. Not sure if it’s my age ( 🙂 ) or other things taking priority.

To keep things presentable in my home, I use a list that keeps me on schedule. #Declutter #CleaningSchedule #Housekeeping Share on XSo, to keep things presentable and mostly clean, I have started using a list. (I am a list person). I also have the help of my sweet husband.
Be Organized
We are empty-nesters with 3 fur-babies (we are dog people 🙂 ). So chasing dog hair is an everyday thing. We both work so our free time is limited. Without a guide to go by, it would be almost impossible.
To make things work for us, we use the list and plan time to do our tasks. For heavy cleaning, I believe the best routine is to clean one room at a time, completing it before moving on. That may not work for you – just do what is best for your situation.
DeClutter First
Go through your house and pick up things that are not where they belong. If you have children, include them in this. It’s also a good idea to have baskets in rooms to collect misplaced objects, making it easier to put them away. DeCluttering first will make cleaning easier and gives a feeling of instant gratification.
Dust & Vacuum
When it’s time to dust and vacuum, dust everything. For some reason, we have a very dusty house. We recently had some reconstruction done because of some flood damage. I was mortified when the workers moved the bedroom furniture to the garage because you could write a novel on everything! So, I have made a vow to do much better with dusting. I use Swiffer dusters, but good old fashioned dust cloths will work just
We have to do vacuuming often because of the pets. So, I got a stick vacuum that makes frequent cleaning easier. It’s not a replacement for the regular vac, but it is wonderful for quick pickups.
A System
Along with a list and a schedule, it will help to have a cleaning system. I learned a little tip a long time ago. When you work in a room, start top to bottom, left to right. Dust the ceiling fan first. Take the top leftmost corner and check for cobwebs. Move to each corner doing the same. Then go back to the top leftmost area and start dusting. Rinse and repeat. The last task would be to vacuum. This helps to not miss anything and dust falls before you clean the floor. Otherwise, you may dirty an area that you already cleaned.
My List
I have created a simple cleaning printable of cleaning tasks for daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning. It’s FREE and you can get it here:
